Each brake part undergoes rigorous tests at Ferodo’s in-house production and R&D facilities, where Ferodo’s technical specialists continuously work to develop the highest-performing automotive innovations. Over the last decade alone, Ferodo has manufactured over 431 million brake pads as original equipment for 100 car models.

1897: began manufacturing brakes for horse-drawn carts.

1902: manufactured the first-ever brake lining.

1922: became the first company to supply brake linings for a mass-produced vehicle – the Austin 7.

1926: supplied the brakes for J.G Parry-Thomas’ Pendine Sands race car, which broke the land speed record of 169 mph.

1956: manufactured the first disc brake pad for a mass-produced car – the Triumph TR3.

1963: supplied the brake technology for Donald Campbell’s race car, which set a new land speed record of 403.1 mph.

1969: opened the biggest brake test facility in the world.

1980: produced the first European non-asbestos brake pad.

1998: was acquired by Federal-Mogul, creating Ferodo Racing in Mondovi, Italy.

2005: launched Siloxane technology.

2012: developed anti-counterfeit technology to guarantee all Ferodo brake parts sold on the market were genuine.

2014: released the ECO-FRICTION® brake pads, an environmentally friendly braking solution.

2015: added brake drums to its range of friction products, becoming the global Braking Expert.
