CSC – the slave cylinder and release bearing in a single component In a modern clutch system it is now more common for pedal force to be transferred by hydraulics rather than a cable. The clutch is actuated by a concentric slave cylinder (CSC), which performs the combined functions of slave cylinder and release bearing. In systems using a CSC, there is no need for release fork or release shaft components. The CSC is positioned directly on the transmission input shaft in the transmission housing.
