The primary function of the cabin filter is to ensure the air inside the car is clean and free from any undesired airborne particles, which could include carbon, pollen or other debris. Borg & Beck cabin filters are therefore produced from specifically selected synthetic media that not only filters out larger particles, but captures smaller ones through an electrostatic charge in the fibres of the filter. Depending on the OE specification, some also feature an additional ‘Active Carbon’ layer, which filters harmful gases such as ozone and unpleasant odours like sulphur. Therefore cabin filters should be replaced at the manufacturers service interval or every 12 months, whichever comes sooner.
